Inspiring Change, a reminder from our forefathers

Excitement for warmer weather, a change in wardrobe, an increase in outdoor activities and the enjoyment of a much more colorful landscape.This past weekend, my family and I got up early to be a part of the great Cherry Blossoms viewing. These gifted beauties circle the full radius of the Tidal Basin in DC, and boy are they gorgeous! We got there before sunrise so we had the opportunity to enjoy them in a few different lights; at dawn they silhouetted the sky, at sunrise they sparkled and once the sun was fully out they glowed with an iridescent pink, purple and white effect.I love walking around this area of DC where the monuments are sprinkled throughout walking distance from each other. Specifically around the Tidal Basin are the Jefferson, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Martin Luther King Monuments, with the Washington and Lincoln Monument in eyesight. Before I moved to DC, I really had no idea just how amazingly spiritual and inspiring our forefathers really were. Each of them had such a beautiful and uplifting message to share with the world, and most importantly they were able to lead the United States from a deep place of morality and humility. They inspired change---for the better.At this particular point in history, when so much of our own country feels divided and political leadership seems shallow and self-serving, I often wish these politicians would be mandated to visit these establishments annually so that they could be prompted to remember what our immigrant fore-fathers intentions were when this country was being birthed; a reminder to themselves as to what it means to be a public servant and the power they possess to shape the world and many generations to come for the good.Although I believe there's a greater force out there overseeing this leela (cosmic play), I send out daily intentions and prayers into the world...to have more peace, less violence with ample doses of love, understanding and humility. Especially after watching some of these debates :).Have you been to DC before? What monuments were you inspired by?
